The Minister's Advisory Council for Arts and Culture (MACAC) has been involved in many strategic activities over the past several months, and is pleased to share the following updates:
Release of the Report on the Socio-Economic Conditions of the Artist in Ontario in the 21st Century After almost two years of intense consultation and deliberations, MACAC delivered the Report on the Socio-Economic Conditions of the Artist in Ontario in the 21st Century to the Minister of Culture.
Bill 118 introduced for an Arts Education Week
The Minister's Advisory Council for Arts and Culture worked with Ministry of Culture Parliamentary Assistant Jennifer Mossop to develop a bill that declares the fourth week of October Arts Education Week. Bill 118 has passed second reading in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
Premier's Award for Excellence in the Arts
The Premier's Award was one of the first recommendations of the council. In May 2006, nominations were issued for the Premier's Award for Arts and Culture. Almost 200 nominations were received from across the province. The first award ceremony will be held this winter.
